Details of Koropuku Falls

Koropuku Falls is a charming, fairytale-like waterfall that is about 10 meters (33 feet) in height.

It is located in the Catlins Conservation Park along the Chaslands Highway on the South Island of New Zealand.

Compared to other waterfalls in the Catlins region, Koropuku is a lesser-known fall. It will take approximately 1-1.5 hours to reach here if you are driving from Invercargill. The waterfall surrounded by lush greenery and a tranquil atmosphere offers a peaceful experience for the visitors.

While you are driving through the Chaslands Highway, look for the wooden sign marked “Koropuku Falls” near a pull-off bay. From here, by doing a 10–15 minute walk leads you to the falls. Thanks to Wayne Allen and Peter Hill, two local volunteers who are maintaining the log track towards the waterfalls.

The path to the falls can be slightly muddy after rain, so if you are planning your visit on or after a rainy day, sturdy shoes are recommended. Also, keep in mind that there is no toilet facility in this area.
