Paasha, a popular Turkish kitchen, is just an 8-minute drive via Grafton Road from Auckland CBD. The kitchen caters to Middle Eastern and Turkish cuisines and exotic flavours. It has a shisha lounge bar, so persons with asthma should be aware.
Its Turkish owner, Chef Zeki Bay, and his wife, Tracy Bay, opened the restaurant in September 2020. Fortunately, Zeki is no novice in cooking quality dishes, as their first restaurant was opened in 1996, followed by several others.
They put a lot of work into preparing their fresh and quality meals, such as the soft shish kebab, wrap, grilled meats, chicken and beef doners, and rice and salad meals, among many others. If you are a vegetarian, they also have falafel or stuffed vine leaves, zucchini, and feta fritters for you.
The ingredients for these meals are sourced locally from Turkey and prepared in line with Halal guidelines, cooked on hot coal (open fire). The sauces are all handmade and prepared in-house in the kitchen.

The flavours are also excellent, and the 6 hours of slowly cooked ramen noodles are a must-try. The place is quiet and tidy and contains many diners at once. You can get there within 8 minutes via Dominion Road/route 4. Also, enjoy quality music and night vibes with friends while enjoying signature dishes, especially the smoky, flavorful charcoal-grilled BBQ (halal) every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 8 pm to 12 am. They also have another spot at Oracle Dr, Albany, Auckland.

Uncle Man, a family-owned restaurant, opened about a decade ago in Auckland and has consistently served halal Malaysian dishes without pork or alcohol. They have an extensive menu and also vegan dishes. They also sell halal Chinese meals like mee hoon soup, wonton soup, char kuey teow, and flat rice noodles with gravy. Western foods are also available. All are prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional.
You can drive there via Symonds Street in 8 minutes or take an InnerLink bus that drops you at the K’Road stop. Then, you can walk to the spot in less than 7 minutes.
Uncle Man’s also has another branch in CBD at 100 Halsey Street and two others at 215 Kepa Road, Mission Bay, and 652 Great South Road, Manukau City Centre. Try them out.
